Method
  1. Soak the dal with red chilies in water for 2 hours.
  2. Drain and grind to stiff, coarse paste.
  3. Add rest of the ingredients except the oil.
  4. Take 4 round lumps and flatten to � cm thick discs.
  5. Deep fry in moderately hot oil till golden brown.
  6. Serve hot with chutney

Makes: 15 to 20 Vadas

Ingredients:
1 cup - bengal gram (chana) dal
1 cup - shrimps, cleaned and chopped
2 - red chilies
� cup - onion, finely chopped
1 tsp - green chili, minced
2 tsp - ginger garlic paste
2 tsp - fennel (saunf), crushed
salt to taste
oil to fry
