Celery, lettuce fight insomnia

Lettuce is beneficial in the treatment of insomnia as it contains a sleep inducing substance called lectucarium. Even Hippocrates, the father of medicine prescribed this plant for its sedative qualities.

A very low salt diet should not be taken as it interferes with a restful sleep. The sodium acts as a stimulant on the adrenal glands. Celery juice taken with honey at night before sleeping helps a person to relax into a restful sleep. Another popular home remedy for insomnia is ripe banana. Take a teaspoon of fried powder of cumin seeds and mix it with banana. This should be taken before going to bed.
