Apple Betty

Method
  1. Peel, core and slice the apples.
  2. Add sugar and ¼ cup of water.
  3. Simmer juntly till the apples are soft.
  4. Add lime juice and mixed spice powder. Leave aside to cool.
  5. Break the bread into tiny crumbs.
  6. Melt the butter. Add bread and sugar.
  7. Cook stirring all the time till the bread turns golden brown. Leave aside to cool.
  8. Whip the cream with icing sugar.
  9. Place ½ the bread mixture in a pudding bowl.
  10. Top with ½ the apple mixture.
  11. Spread with ½ the cream.
  12. Repeat the layers.
  13. Sprinkle orange rind on top. Serve chilled.

Serves: 6 to 8

Ingredients:
500 g - apple
2 cup - fresh cream
8 slices - bread (2 days old)
4 tbsp - sugar or to taste
2 tbsp - lime juice
½ tsp - mixed spice powder (cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg)
3 tbsp - butter
3 tbsp - sugar
2 tbsp - icing sugar
1 tbsp - orange rind
