Green Peas Palya

Method
  1. Cook green peas with 1 cup of water till soft.
  2. Heat the oil in a kadai. Add mustard. When it splutters, add the dal.
  3. When it turns light brown, add red chillies, curry leaves and onion. Fry till onion is golden brown.
  4. Add tomato, green chillies and turmeric powder.
  5. Cook covered on low heat till the tomato is reduced to a pulp.
  6. Add green peas, salt and optional jaggery.
  7. Simmer till excess liquid is absorbed and the playa is like a lump.
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot with poori or chapathi.
Ingredients:
2 cup - shelled green peas
1 tsp - mustard seeds
2 tsp - black gram (urad) dal
2 - dry red chillies, broken into pieces
2 cup - onion, finely chopped
3 cup - tomato, chopped
6 - green chillies, slit
1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
4 tbsp - coriander leaves , chopped
2 to 3 tsp - jaggery, optional
few curry leaves
salt to taste
3 tbsp - oil
