Method
  1. Pressure cook the tur dal and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a kadai and saute the onions.
  3. Add the green chillies, garlic, ginger paste and tomatoes and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the cooked dal, turmeric and asafoetida add water as desired and cook for another 3 minutes.
  5. Add salt.
  6. Garnish with cashews and coriander leaves. Serve hot with rice.
Ingredients:
1 cup - tur dal
3 - green chillies
1 tbsp - finely chopped onion
1 tbsp - finely chopped tomato
3 - garlic pods crushed
1 tsp - ginger paste
1 tsp - chopped coriander leaves
1 tsp - crushed roasted cashews
A pinch of turmeric
A pinch of asafoetida
1 tbsp - oil
Salt to taste
