For the gotsu powder:
Roast channa dal, coriander seeds, jeera and red chillies in little oil and dry grind them and store it in an airtight container.

For the gotsu:

  1. Crackle mustard; add urad dal, jeera and green chillies.
  2. Add the onions and fry till transparent. Add the tomatoes and capsicum and saute for 2-3 mins.
  3. Add the masoor dal and water and let boil till the dal is tender.
  4. Add the vegetables and boil further until the vegetables are tender.
  5. Add the gotsu powder and stir for a minute.
  6. Put off the flame and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Ingredients:
1 cup - masoor dal
1/2 cup - carrot, peeled and diced
1/2 cup - cabbage, shredded
1/4 cup - brinjal, diced
1/4 cup - peas
1/4 cup - capsicum
1 cup - onion, diced
1/2 cup - tomato, diced
1 tsp - mustard
1 tsp - urad dal
1 tsp - jeera
3 - green chillies
3 tsp - gotsu powder

For gotsu powder:
1 tbsp - channa dal
1 tbsp - coriander seeds
2 tsp - jeera
4 - red chillies
