Sponge In Chocolate Sauce

Method

To make sponge:

  1. Whisk eggs & sugar until thick.
  2. Lightly stir in the flour.
  3. Grease a cake tin.
  4. Pour the mixture and bake at 200 C for 15/20 mts.

To make chocolate sauce:

  1. Put water and sugar in a saucepan & dissolve sugar gradually on slow heat then boil syrup to 1/2 thred consistency.
  2. Beat egg yolks till creamy.
  3. Cool the syrup & pour over the beaten egg yolks.
  4. Now cook in double boiler till it is thick. Add the cocoa powder & creamed butter..
  5. Remove from double boiler & whisk till cool.
  6. Cut cake in 3 layers.
  7. Layer with sauce in between.
  8. Garnish with walnuts and chocolate curls. Chill.
Ingredients:

For sponge:
4 eggs
4 tbsp maida
6 tbsp sugar

For chocolate sauce:
2 egg yolks
6 tbsp sugar
1/2 cup water
6/8 tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 slab chocolate
2tbsp butter
A few walnuts
