Method
  1. Soak chana dal for 2 hours.
  2. Wash it and grind into a thick paste using a little water. Steam cook the paste.
  3. Remove and break into small pieces.
  4. Make a one thread consistency syrup with the jaggery.
  5. Add the chana dal and coconut scrapings to it and cook on a low fire.
  6. Add powdered cardamoms and remove from fire. Make small balls.
  7. Mix the rice and urad dal flours. Add water and make thick batter.
  8. Add a pinch of salt.
  9. Dip the dal balls one by one in this batter quickly and deep fry in ghee and serve hot.
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups rice flour
1/4 cup urad dal flour

For the filling:
1 1/2 cups chana dal
1/2 coconut
10 cardamoms
1 1/2 cups jaggery (scraped)
A few cardamoms, crushed
Ghee for frying
