Handy Mechanical Gadgets

These are small, simple, mechanical devices, which do not need excessive training to use. They make a lot of otherwise tedious chores of the kitchen platform quite easy. Though many of them them come in combinations with other electrical processors these days, the simple individual hand use ones are much simpler and easy to operate. Let's have a peek at some of these:

Knife :

This is probably the simplest and most necessary gadget required in the kitchen. Knives should be comfortable to hold with pressure, safe in design, and rustproof. The handles should not have any such designs that will deform or wrongly pressurise parts of the hands. Knives come in many sizes, and shapes. The huge ones are not that useful for vegetarian cooking, as so much pressure is not required to cut any vegetable. The medium ones with the finest serrated edge on one side are the most useful. One with a shade bigger serrated edge are good for peeling pineapples, pumpkins, etc. Then there are cake knives, double edged ones, butter knives, etc. A couple of tough and stiff bladed ones with sturdy handles, preferably wood, are good for mixing chikki, nougat, chocolate mixtures, etc.
