Soya chunks vada

Method
  1. Soak the chana dal in water for 2 - 3 hours.
  2. Soak the meal maker in hot water for 30 minutes and squeeze all excess water.
  3. Grind them in a blender and set aside.
  4. Drain and grind the chana dal, garlic cloves, green chillies, curry leaves and ginger to a coarse paste by using a little water.
  5. Combine the finely chopped onions, meal maker, chana dal mixture, salt and turmeric powder in a wide bowl and mix very well.
  6. Heat oil in a pan for deep frying.
  7. Take lemon size ball of chana dal mixture, flatten them a little and deep fry them in hot oil till golden color on both sides evenly.
  8. Remove and place them on a tissue paper.
  9. Serve hot with tomato ketchup and a cup of tea.

1/2 cup - chana dal
1/2 cup - soya chunks/meal maker
1 - onion
3 to 5 - green chillies
1 inch piece - ginger
2 or 3 - garlic cloves
2 sprigs - curry leaves
A pinch of turmeric powder
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
