Fish with Ridge Gourd (Thurai)

Method
  1. Apply salt and 1 tsp turmeric to fish slices and keep aside for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a fry pan.
  3. Fry the fish on both sides, drain well and reserve.
  4. Add fenugreek seeds to the remaining oil in the pan.
  5. When they splutter, add ridge gourd remaining turmeric and fry well.
  6. Add salt and 1/2 cup of water.
  7. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  8. Add the fish, simmer for 2 more minutes.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in the lime juice.
  10. Serve hot with steamed rice.

Ingredients:
fish slices - 1/2 kg
ridge gourd - 250 gm, peeled and cut into pieces
turmeric powder - 1 1/2 tsp
chili powder - 1/2 tsp
mustard oil - 4 tbsp
fenugreek seeds (methi) - 1/2 tsp
lime juice - 2 tsp
salt - 1/2 tsp
