Madras pepper chicken

Method
  1. Grind onion, garlic and ginger till fine.
  2. Grind black pepper seeds, cumin and sweet cumin till fine.
  3. Grind almonds and cashew nuts till fine.
  4. Wash chicken and cut into pieces.
  5. Marinate with ground onion mixture, yoghurt and turmeric for 15 mins.
  6. Place in pot and cook for 10 mins.
  7. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the ground almond mixture and clove powder for a few seconds.
  8. Add cooked chicken pieces.
  9. Stir well, then add ground pepper mixture.
  10. Stir fry till chicken is light brown.
  11. Add tomato sauce and salt to taste.
  12. Serve hot with rice.

1 chicken
1 onion, medium size
8 cloves garlic
1 piece ginger, thumb sized
3 tsp. black pepper seeds
1 tsp. sweet cumin
1/2 tsp. cumin
6 almonds
8 cashewnuts
1 cup yoghurt
1 tsp. turmeric powder
1/2 cup cooking oil
1/2 tsp. clove powder
2 tbsp. tomato sauce
Salt to taste
