Khari murgi with potatoes

Method
  1. Clean and joint the chicken. Cut into medium size pieces.
  2. Mix the ground spices with salt. Coat the chicken with this. Keep aside for 2-3 hours.
  3. Heat 2-3 tbsp. of oil and lightly fry the onions. Add chicken. Fry for 8-10 mins. turning the pieces all the time.
  4. Add water. Mix well. Cover with a tight fitting lid. Pour some water on top of the lid. Cook on a slow fire until chicken is tender and almost done. Replenish water on the lid as it dries up.
  5. Heat remaining ghee or oil and fry potatoes golden brown.
  6. Add potatoes and ghee with chicken and cook on a slow fire for another 15-20 mins.

Note:

1 kilo mutton may be substituted for chicken.

Ingredients:
1 large chicken
3 onion, thinly sliced
1/2 kilo ghee or oil
1 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 - 2 tsp. salt
1/2 kilo small round potatoes (boiled and peeled)

Spices to be ground:

1 large pod garlic
2 cm cube ginger
1/4 tsp. jeera
