Method
- Beat butter with the powdered sugar.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well.
- Add the lemon peel and lemon juice.
- Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Add buttermilk (thick lassi) alternately with flour.
- Bake in a greased and floured ring mould at 180 deg C for about 45 mins.
- Turn out on a wire rack
To make the honey sauce:
- Boil sugar with honey and water for 1 minute.
- Take off the fire.
- Add the lemon juice and lemon rind.
Prick the warm cake with a fork and then brush with some of the honey sauce. Serve the rest of the sauce separately.
