Fish in onion seeds

Method
  1. Sprinkle salt on the fish pieces which have been cut into cubes. Also, sprinkle the cornflour.
  2. Heat oil for shallow pan-frying and fry the fish pieces a few at a time.
  3. Turn once or twice so that both the sides of the fish are cooked and are golden brown in colour.
  4. Fry all the fish in this way. Drain all the oil and keep aside.
  5. Remove most of the oil from the pan leaving only a tsp. Add the onion paste, ginger-garlic paste and the tomato puree.
  6. Sir and cook on medium heat for 2 minutes. Lower the heat and mix in the spices and cook for 30 seconds. Then add 1 cup of water. Bring to boil and add the coconut milk.
  7. Mix in the fried fish pieces. Bring to simmer and put off the heat.
Ingredients:
300 gms boneless fish - any variety you may prefer
Oil for frying the fish pieces
1 tbsp cornflour
1 tsp saunf powder
2 tsp onion seeds - kala jeera
1 cup onion browned and fried
2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
2 tbsp tomato puree
2 tbsp coconut milk
Salt to taste
