Method
- Clean and wash the fish.
- Cut fish into 1 cm thick slice.
- Smear with salt and turmeric powder.
- Grind together mustard seeds and green chilies into fine paste.
- Blend curd and keep aside.
- Now add mustard paste, curd, shredded garlic cloves into the fish and marinade it for half an hour.
- Heat oil, add kalonjee then add marinated fish, slit green chillies and 2 cups of water into it.
- Cook it on low flame till fish became tender.
- Serve hot with plain rice.
Ingredients:
hilsha fish - 500 gm
mustard seed - 4 to 6 tsp
green chilies - 2 to 4 nos
kalonjee (onion seed) - 1 tsp
mustard oil - 2 tbsp
curd - 2 tbsp
turmeric powder - 1 tsp
garlic - 2 to 4 cloves
salt to taste
