Chane ki dal gosht

Method
  1. Fry the onion in oil till it starts to turn brown.
  2. Add the spices and meat and let the water dry.
  3. Add the presoaked dal and 2 glasses of water.
  4. Cover and leave on low heat to tenderize.
  5. When both meat and dal have softened add ginger and garam masala.
  6. For tarka: Fry a few slices of onion in a little oil and when brown add along with hot oil to the dish.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and chopped green chilli.
  8. Serve with lemon.

Tip: If cooking chicken, boil the lentil/dal beforehand because chicken does not take as much time to cook as dal.

1/2 kg. mutton or chicken
Salt to taste
1&1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1 medium onion, chopped
1 cup dal chana, presoaked
1/4 tsp. ginger paste
1/4 tsp. garam masala
3 tbsp. oil
