Lentil Soup

Method
  1. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed vessel.
  2. Add the onions and celery.
  3. Saut� till the onions become soft.
  4. Add the stock.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Add the lentils. Give it a boil.
  7. After a boil, simmer for 20 to 25 minutes or till the lentils are soft.
  8. Add the tomatoes, salt, pepper, red chilli powder and lemon juice.
  9. Cook further on a medium flame for 8 to 10 minutes.
  10. Serve hot.
Ingredients:
21/2 cups - yellow moong dal or red masoor dal (washed and soaked for about 30 to 40 minutes)
5 cups - vegetable or chicken or meat stock
3 tbsp - olive oil
1 - large onion (finely chopped)
1 - celery stick (chopped)
5 - medium sized tomatoes (peeled and roughly chopped)
juice of a lemon
� tsp - red chilli powder
salt to taste
freshly ground pepper (as per taste)
