Fish patties in a rich and creamy tomato gravy

Method
  1. Boil or steam the fish and remove all the bones.
  2. In a bowl, mix in the rest of the ingredients for fish patties and knead to a smooth paste.
  3. Take a handful of the mixture and make a ball. Now very gently flatten it into a 2-inch patty. Repeat the process for the rest of the mixture.
  4. Heat 1 tbsp. oil in a non-stick skillet over low heat. Slip in the patties, not too many at a time, and shallow-fry on both sides till crisp golden brown.
  5. For preparing the gravy, heat 1 tsp oil , add 2 red chilies and fry ; then add the shallots and tomato and shallow fry for a minute or so. Add salt as required. Keep aside and let cool.
  6. In a blender add this mixture with a pinch of sugar and blend it to a fine thick creamy gravy.
  7. For seasoning , heat 1 tsp oil and add 1 tsp mustard seeds. Once it starts sputtering, add the seasoning to the tomato gravy and mix well.
  8. Serve the fish patties with this Rich and creamy tomato gravy .
  9. This is not only a great snack time recipe , you can also serve it with rice or paratha.

Ingredients:

Ingredients for fish patties :

1/2 lb king fish, cut into 1" slices
1 medium sized white onion
2 eggs
1 tsp pepper powder
1 tbsp lemon juice
a handful coriander leaves
4-5 mint leaves
1 and 1/2 tsp shaan tandoori chicken BBQ mix
3 green chilies, chopped
1/2" piece ginger, minced
1 slice of bread, soaked in water
Salt to taste
Oil, for shallow fry

Ingredients for tomato gravy:

3 big red tomatoes, cut into medium size pieces
4 small onions / shallots
2 whole red chilies
a pinch of sugar
Salt to taste
2 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds, for seasoning
