Chicken Tikka Masala

For the chicken tikka:

  1. In a bowl, mix all ingredients for the marinade and marinate the chicken, keep aside for 3-4 mins.
  2. Roast in a tandoor/charcoal grill or preheated oven for 8-10 mins till it is done, basting with oil at least once.
  3. Alternatively you may use frozen tikka and cook as per instructions on the packet.

For the gravy:

  1. Heat oil in a kadhai (wok).
  2. Add the garlic and sauté till pink.
  3. Add green chillies and ginger.
  4. Saute for 30 secs.
  5. Add coriander and chilli powder.
  6. Saute for another 30 sec.
  7. Add tomatoes, cover and cook till oil separates.
  8. Add salt and dry fenugreek leaves.
  9. Now add the chicken tikka and simmer on a low heat for 10 mins.
  10. Serve garnished with chopped coriander leaves.
Ingredients:
Chicken, cut into medium sized pieces - 500 gms

For the marinade:

Yoghurt - 4 tbsp
Ginger garlic paste - 2 tbsp
Cumin powder - 1.50 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
Lemon juice - 2 tbsp
Green cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
Gram flour, roasted - 1 tbsp
Oil - 2 tbsp
Salt to taste

For the masala:

Large tomatoes, chopped - 2
Garlic, finely chopped - 4 coves
Ginger, chopped - 2 tbsp
Green chillies, deseeded and chopped - 4
Coriander seeds, coarsely ground - 2 tbsp
Whole red chillies, coarsely ground - 4
Dry fenugreek leaves - 1 tbsp
Oil - 4 tbsp
