Gingerbread Scones

Method
  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, ginger, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.
  2. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the molasses, milk and egg yolk until smooth.
  4. Stir into the flour mixture just until moistened.
  5. Turn out onto a floured surface; knead gently 6-8 times.
  6. Pat into an 8-in. circle; cut into 12 wedges and place 1 in.
  7. Apart on a greased baking sheet.
  8. Beat egg white until frothy; brush over scones.
  9. Sprinkle with sugar.
  10. Bake at 400 degrees F for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Serve warm.
Ingredients:
2 cups - all purpose flour
3 tbsp - brown sugar
2 tsp - baking powder
1 tsp - ground ginger
1/2 tsp - baking soda
1/2 tsp - salt
1/2 tsp - ground cinnamon
1/4 cup - cold butter or margarine
1/3 cup - molasses
1/4 cup - milk
1 - egg, separated
sugar
