Method
  1. Sift into basin the flour, sugar, soda, cinnamon, salt and ginger.
  2. Rub in butter until the mixture gets a very fine crumb consistency.
  3. Beat egg with golden syrup; add to dry ingredients.
  4. Work into firm dough with hand.
  5. Take teaspoonfuls of mixture, roll into small balls and place on lightly greased oven trays about 5 cm (2 inch) apart.
  6. Bake in moderately slow oven about 15 minutes.
  7. Loosen biscuits and cool on the trays.

2 cups - plain flour
1 cup - castor sugar
125 g - butter
1 - small egg
� tsp - bicarbonate of soda
1 tsp - cinnamon
1 pinch - salt
2 tsp - ground ginger
1 tsp - golden syrup
