Peel the onions and cut in half. Slice very thinly. Finely chop the garlic.
Mix the flours with the remaining ingredients and enough water to make a smooth creamy batter.
Add onions and garlic and mix well.
Heat oil, about 2 cm deep, in a wide flat pan.
Add tablespoonfuls of the batter and press into patties. Fry on both sides until golden brown and cooked through.
Remove to a rack covered with absorbent paper to drain excess oil.
Serve hot with Chilli Sauce or Green Coriander Chutney.
Recipe Secret: If you do not want to use egg then you can add little corn flour to make the fritters more crispy.

4 large Onions
4 cloves Garlic
3/4 cup Chick Pea Flour (besan)
1/2 cup Flour
1 Egg
1.5 teaspoon Bicarbonate Of Soda
1 teaspoon Chilli powder
Salt to taste
Vegetable Oil for shallow frying
