Dahi Mach (Fish with Curds)

Method
  1. Cut fish into slices. Wash well.
  2. Apply some turmeric powder and salt to fish and wash again. (This will remove the fishy smell)
  3. Combine curds with salt, chilli and turmeric powder.
  4. Pour over fish and marinate for 1 hour.
  5. Grind onion and ginger together.
  6. Heat oil in a kadai. Add cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and bay leaves.
  7. Fry till fragrant. Add onion and ginger paste and fry well.
  8. Add fish with the marinade.
  9. Cover and simmer till fish is cooked.
  10. Serve garnished with coriander leaves.

Ingredients:
hilsha or rohu fish - 500 gm
curds - 1/2 cup
chilli powder - 1 tsp
turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
onion - 1 big
ginger - 3 cm
mustard oil - 4 tbsp
cloves - 2
cinnamon - 2
cardamom - 2
bay leaf - 1
green chillies - 4, slit
coriander leaves to garnish
salt to taste
