Mach Masaledar (Masala Fish Curry)

Method
  1. Cut fish into slices. Wash well.
  2. Apply some turmeric powder and salt to fish and wash again. (This will remove the fishy smell)
  3. Grind onion with ginger, garlic, 3 red chillies, green chillies and poppy seeds to a paste.
  4. Heat oil in a kadai. Add one dry chilli, mustard, fenugreek and cumin seeds.
  5. When they are fragrant, add the ground paste and fry well.add the fish slices and fry lightly.
  6. Add turmeric, salt, sugar or jaggery and lime juice.
  7. Add about 1 cup of water and simmer till the fish is cooked and the gravy is thick.
  8. Serve garnished with coriander leaves.

Ingredients:
rohu or hilsha fish - 500 gm
onion - 1 cup, chopped
ginger - 3 cm
garlic - 4 flakes
dry red chilli - 3
green chillies - 3
poppy seeds - 2 tsp
mustard oil - 4 tbsp
mustard seeds - � tsp
fenugreek seeds - � tsp
cumin seeds - � tsp
turmeric powder - � tsp
salt to taste
sugar or jaggery powder - 1 tsp
garam masala - 1 tsp
coriander leaves to garnish
