Machchli Ka Pulao

  1. Wash and dry the fish and cut into pieces.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp. oil.
  3. Add turmeric, chopped coriander leaves, chillies, garam masala and salt to taste. Let it sizzle for 2-3 mins.
  4. Then add the lemon juice and put in the pieces of fish and fry them well on both sides so that the masala coats them well.
  5. When they are cooked, remove and reserve.
  6. Fry the chopped onion to a light brown, add the rice and salt and fry for 2-3 mins.
  7. Add 3 cups of hot water and cook till nearly done.
  8. Then place fish pieces on top and cover.
  9. Cook on a very low heat.
  10. Let the rice cook till all water evaporates. Serve hot.

500 gms. pomfrets, filleted
1 medium onion, chopped
1 tsp. turmeric powder
4 red chillies
1&1/2 cups rice
2 tbsp. ghee
1&1/2 tsp. garam masala powder
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 small bunch coriander leaves, chopped
Oil as needed
Salt to taste
