Prawn Tikkis

Method
  1. Wash the prawns thoroughly and cut them.
  2. Collect the discarded legs and the head portion of the prawns.
  3. Grind them to a fine paste.
  4. Next in a bowl, add 2 tbsp of besan, chopped onion, chopped chilies and salt with the prawn paste. Mix well.
  5. Use the gram flour according to the consistency of the prawn paste.
  6. The prawn mix should not be too watery or too thick.
  7. Divide the prawn mix into equal portions.
  8. Now wash and dry your hands, rub them with a little oil.
  9. Take each portion of the prawn mix and make it into a ball, gently flatten each ball into a round patty of about 2-inch thickness.
  10. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a non stick skillet over low heat.
  11. Place the patties, not too much at a time and pan fry them on each side for 2 to 3 minutes or until they turn golden brown on each side.
  12. Enjoy the prawn tikkis with rice and other curries or serve hot with ketchup and coriander chutney.

Discarded legs and head portion of almost 2 lbs. prawn
1 medium sized onion (finely chopped)
2 green chilies (finely chopped )
2 tbsp of besan (gram flour)
Salt, to taste
Oil, as required for pan fry
