Chicken Biryani

Method
  1. Make a paste with ginger garlic paste, red chilly powder and salt.
  2. Marinate the chicken with the above paste for 1 hour.Heat up oil in a pan.
  3. Fry the chicken in it till done and keep it aside.
  4. Grind 2 green chillies and cashews to make a paste and keep it aside.
  5. Heat up oil and ghee in a pressure cooker.
  6. Add cinnamon, cloves, 2 green chillies, brinji leaves and fry well.
  7. Add chopped onions and 1 tsp of ginger-garlic paste and fry.
  8. After 3 mins, add the cashew paste to it and fry them for about 5 - 7 mins.
  9. Add the chopped tomatoes and pudhina to it and fry for 2 mins.
  10. Add 2 cups of coconut milk and 1 and a half cups of water (for 2 cups of basmathi rice).
  11. Add 1 tsp of red chilly powder and salt to it.
  12. Add the rice into the cooker. Allow it to boil for 3 mins.
  13. Add the fried chicken into the cooker.
  14. Mix them well and close the cooker with the lid. Cook upto 3 whistles.
  15. Serve hot.

chicken - 1/2 kg
basmathi rice - 2 cups
green chillies(small) - 4 nos
cloves(grambu) - 3 nos
cinnamon(karugapatta) sticks - 2 nos
brinji leaves
onion - 2 nos
tomato - 2 nos
ginger-garlic paste - 1 tsp
cashew nut - 10 nos
mint leaves(pudhina) - 1/2 bunch
red chilly powder
ghee
oil
coconut milk - 2 cups
Salt - As reqd
