Methi Mushroom Dal

Method
  1. Cook dal with enough water till soft and mash till smooth
  2. Heat oil in kadai. Add mustard seeds.
  3. When they pop, add garlic and fry till dark brown.
  4. Add green chili and onion and fry till golden brown.
  5. Add fenugreek leaves and all the powders.
  6. Fry for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Add tomato, mushroom and salt.
  8. Add ¼ cup of water and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Add dal and simmer for 5 minutes.
  10. Serve hot with steamed rice.

Ingredients:
button mushroom - 200 gm, sliced
red gram (tovar) dal - 250 gm
tomato - 150 gm, cut into quarters
oil - 2 tbsp
mustard seeds - 1 tsp
garlic - 8 flakes, sliced
green chilies, chopped and crushed - 3 to 4
onion - 1 cup, sliced
fenugreek leaves, chopped - 1 cup
chili powder - 1 tsp
turmeric powder - ½ tsp
coriander powder - 1 tsp
salt to taste
