A rainbow on your plate
Healthy eating is not only about picking the fresh food or keeping a tab on the calories, choice of colours is equally necessary to keep one fit and perfect, according to dietitians.

A rainbow of foods creates a palette of nutrients, each with a different bundle of potential benefits for a healthful eating plan.

Indrani Ghosh,Chief Dietitian, Food and Nutrition, Columbia Asia Hospital - Salt Lake, says that adding a splash colourful seasonal food makes the entire eating experience delightful one.

For adding proper value to the nutrition one should use colour as the guide selecting proper nutrition.

Greens indicate antioxidant potential and fibre that reduce cancer risks and smoothens bowel movement.

Fruits: avocado, apples, grapes, honeydew, kiwi and lime.

Vegetables: artichoke, asparagus, broccoli, green beans, green peppers, cucumber and leafy greens such as spinach.
