These are made with vegetables of your choice, e.g., sliced potatoes, brinjals or mushrooms, cauliflower heads, sliced capsicum peppers; green chillies slit lengthwise, etc.
150 gms. gram flour
1 tsp. celery seeds (ajwain)
1 tsp. cumin seeds
4 tsp. crushed garlic
2 tsp. grated ginger
ΒΌ tsp. baking powder
1 medium sized onion, sliced
Handful of chopped fresh coriander and fenugreek leaves
1 small potato, finely sliced or coarsely grated
Handful of other vegetables of your choice
1 tsp. (or to taste)
Oil for deep frying
1.Mix all the ingredients (except the oil) with small amounts of water until a batter of dropping consistency is formed.
2.Heat the oil for frying and add a teaspoon of this hot oil to the batter mixture.
3.Take a tablespoon of the batter and fry until golden brown.
4.Drain on kitchen paper towels.
Serving suggestion: Serve as a starter with a dip of chutney.
