Do relax in the bed. Try to relax all the muscles in your body. Start with your forehead and jaw and work down to your feet.
Go to bed at regular time.
Take a bath before going to bed.
Listen to some soothing music or read a book.
Don't smoke or drink excessive amounts before going to sleep.
Avoid late night meals that are greasy, spicy, rich or heavy meal less than three hours before bed.
Don't go to bed hungry.
Cut down on tea, coffee, cola drinks, chocolates late in the night.
Don't keep looking at the bedside clock.
A regular brisk walking or any other exercise early in the morning or in the evening is useful. It provides physical and mental relaxation from one's disturbing problems.
Many herbal teas are clamed to ensure a good night's sleep. Chamomile, lemon balm, lime blossom, passionflower and hyssop are said to be most effective.
