Spinach : 3 bunches
Raw Mango : 1 small sized
Tur Dal : 1/2 cup
Green Chillies : 3 or 4
Dried Red Chillies : 2
Turmeric Powder : 1/4 tsp
Mustard Seeds : 1tsp
Urad dal : 1tsp
Chana dal : 1tsp
Salt to Taste
Oil : 2 or 3 tsp
A pinch of asafoetida
Remove the stems from spinach leaves.
Wash and chop the spinach leaves and keep aside.
Wash, peel and chop the mango into medium size pieces.
Wash the tur dal properly with plenty of water.
Put the tur dal, mango pieces, chopped spinach, chopped green chillies and one cup of water in a pressure cooker.
Cook till 3 or 4 whistles.
Turn off the flame and wait until the pressure goes off.
Remove the dal mixture from cooker and keep aside.
Heat oil in a vessel add mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal and a pinch of asafoetida.
When the seeds stop popping add cooked dal mixture, turmeric powder and salt.
Mix well and cook for about 5 minutes.
Take it out and serve with roti or hot steamed rice and a dollop of ghee.
