Biscuits, chocolate, cake, and ice cream are typically high in saturated fat, sugar and calories. Excess sugar in your child’s diet can lead to dental decay and the extra calories and saturated fat may predispose your child to obesity and vascular diseases.
Healthy Alternative: Fresh fruit, low-sugar milkshake, yoghurt sweetened with fruit, whole-grain, low-fat cakes and biscuits are good substitutes. Make sure you monitor the serving size, and encourage your child to brush and floss regularly.
