A Big Fat Problem
Diabetes increases your risk of developing heart disease. Eating food lower in saturated fat such as ghee, butter, and margarine will go a long way in reducing this risk. Limiting the calories from fats, in combination with physical exercise, will help you lose weight apart from minimizing chances of heart disease.

How to snack

If you are diabetic, the selection of a snack will depend upon the type of diabetes medication you are taking and also the diet plan you are on. If you are taking oral diabetes medication, you should eat smaller meals and have snacks loaded with protein. This will satisfy your hunger and prevent you from overeating. If you take insulin, you might want to eat most of your carbohydrate allowance at mealtimes when the insulin coverage is high. Your snacks, in this case, should be low in carbohydrates.
