Guava is in season in India almost the whole year through. The fruit has a number of medicinal properties. The fruit is decocted as a cure for diarrhoea.
An infusion made from the fruit is used to treat sore throat, vomiting, stomach upsets, vertigo and to regulate menstrual periods. The fruit is chewed for bleeding gums and bad breath; it prevents hangovers (if eaten before drinking).
