How to make sambar
Ever wondered how to make that flavourful sambar you get at your favourite restaurant to go with the soft idlis and crisp dosas? Check out this recipe.

Ingredients:

1 cup - tur dal, cooked
Tamarind, small gooseberry sized
12-15 - small onions/shallots
3 - green chillies
1 - tomato
2 sprig - curry leaves
2 tbsp - coriander leaves, chopped
Salt as you need
1/4 tsp - jaggery (optional)
Vegetable of your choice (potatoes work best)

To roast and grind:

1 tbsp - channa dal
1 tsp - urad dal
5-6 - red chillies
1&1/2 tsp - dry coriander seeds
1/2 tsp - fenugreek seeds
1/2 tsp - mustard (optional)

To temper:

3/4 tsp - mustard
1/2 tsp - fenugreek seeds
1/2 tsp - asafoetida
1 tsp - cumin
