Soya with Beans

  1. Soak the soya chunks or granules in hot salted water for 10-15 mins.
  2. Once the soya chunks have swelled in the water, drain out the soaked soya from the water and squeeze out the excess water. Keep aside.
  3. Heat the oil and fry the beans adding salt to taste. Fry for 2-3 min and lower the heat. Cover with a lid and allow the beans to cook till almost tender.
  4. Now, mix in the soaked soya and the garlic paste and stir fry for a min.
  5. Mix in the spices and the tomato puree.
  6. Add 2 tbsp. water and cover with a lid.
  7. Cook on low fire for 2-3 mins. more till the beans are tender and the spices have merged with the soya granules or chunks and the beans mixture.
  8. The preparation will be dry and can be enjoyed with rotis or parathas.
Soya chunks or granules - 1 cup
French beans stringed and cut into one inch pieces - 200 gms
Oil - 2 tbsp
Ginger paste - 1 tsp
Roasted jeera powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
Haldi powder - 1/2 tsp
Tomato puree - 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
