Bread bonda

To make the filling:

  • Boil the potatoes, peel it and mash it well.
  • In a pan, heat 2 tsp of oil and season with mustard, urad dal, green chillies and asafoetida.
  • Then add the finely chopped onions along with turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander-cumin powder, garam masala and salt.
  • Once the onions are sauteed well, add the peas and let it cook for a couple of more mins.
  • Then add the mashed potatoes and sprinkle just enough water to make a dry filling.
  • Keep it aside to cool down for a while.

  • Ingredients:
    12 - wheat bread slices
    3 - potatoes (peeled, boiled and mashed)
    1 - onion (finely chopped)
    1/3 cup - peas (optional)
    2 - green chilies, finely chopped
    1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
    1 tsp - coriander-cumin powder
    1/2 tsp - garam masala powder
    1/2 tsp - chili powder
    1/2 tsp - mustard seed
    1 tsp - urad dal
    Asafoetida, a pinch
    Salt to taste
    2 tsp - oil (plus more for deep frying)
