Stewed Fig Crumble

Method
  1. Make a mixture of orange juice, lemon juice.
  2. Put figs in a shallow bowl, sprinkle this juice all over them.
  3. Place overnight in refrigerator.
  4. Crush soaked figs coarsely in a mixer.
  5. Transfer to a greased baking dish.
  6. Add sugar, essence, cinnamon, mix well.
  7. Spread evenly in the container.
  8. Sieve flour with salt, sugar, cut in butter.
  9. Mix with fingers or fork till mixture is like large bread crumbs.
  10. Sprinkle thickly over fig mixture.
  11. Bake in preheated oven at 170oC for 20-25 minutes or till crust is light golden.
  12. Remove cool a little, before serving.
  13. Serve with or without sweetened whipped cream swirled on top.

Ingredients:
8 to 10 - figs
1 cup - orange juice
1 tsp - lemon juice
1 cup - soft brown sugar
3 to 4 pinches - cinnamon powder
1/4 tsp - vanilla essence

For Crumble:
1 1/2 cups - plain flour
60 gms - chilled butter
2 tbsp - sugar, ground
2 pinches - salt
cold water
