Method

  1. Cut beans into 2" pieces. Dice other vegetables into medium cubes.

  2. Boil them in a vessel separately until they are tender.

  3. Cook Toor Dal with 3 cups of water in pressure cooker until 2 whistles.

  4. Drain vegetables. Mix Dal and vegetables in a big vessel.

  5. Add grinded masala, salt and Tamarind paste. Add water to required consistency and bring to boil. Before taking it out of stove add seasoning.

  6. Serve with Rice or Chapattis.

Ingredients:

2 Cups Toor Dal
Green Beans - 20
Carrot - 3
Potato - 2
Kohlrabi (Gedde Kosu in Kannada) - 1
Green Peas and Lima Beans - 1 Cup
1/2 Spoon Tamarind Paste.
Salt to Taste.

For Seasoning:

1/2 cup Peanuts and Cashew
1/2 Spoon Mustard
Hing and Kadi Patta.

For Masala

4 Spoons of Urad Dal
1 Spoon Chana Dal
3 Spoons Dhania
1 1/2 spoon Pepper Corns
1 Spoon Jeera
3 Red Chillies
2 Inch Cinnamon
4 Cloves

Fry all the above ingredients with 1/4 spoon oil until it's golden brown. Then Put all the above with 1/2 cup coconut in a mixer and grind it to smooth paste adding little water.
