Method
  1. Make idlys (refer idly recipe)
  2. Grind tomato with chilly powder and turmeric powder.
  3. In the ground paste add salt, garam masala , red food color, maida and rice flour and mix well.
  4. The batter should be of Bajji batter consistancy.
  5. Cool down idlys and cut theminto 4 pieces
  6. In a wide pan heat oil and fry onions and capsicum with salt and keep them separately
  7. Dip the idly pieces in the batter and In the same pan heat oil and shallow fry the idlys
  8. Fry for 4 minutes till it becomes crisp and season with finely cut corriander leaves , curry leaves and fried onion mixture
Ingredients:
Idly batter for 8 idlys
Tomato - 3
onion - 1
Capsicum - 1
Chilly powder - 2 tsp
garam masala powder - 2 tsp
turmeric powder - 1 pinch
rice flour - 2 tblsp
Maida /all purpose flour - 2 tblsp
salt
corriander leaves
Curry leaves (optional)
red food color (optional) - 1 pinch
oil - 2 tblsp
