Spicy Tomato Soup Masala

Method
  1. Take all ingredients and mix.

  2. Put ghee, add ingredients and roast on low flame till crisp and golden. It should give off a strong spicy aroma. Cool.

  3. Pound to a coarse powder, either in a mortar and pestle or dry grind in a mixie.

  4. Use as required.

Note: Use a heavy pan or griddle (tawa) for best roasting.

To make soup use tomato puree, rice starch stock, salt and above masala. Season with ghee, cummin and mustard seeds. To be eaten with hot steamed rice.

Makes: 1/2 Cup.

Ingredients:
Red Chillies - 2 (whole)
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
Black Pepper - 3-4
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida - 1/8 tsp
Cloves - 3
Dhania Seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Cinnamon - 1/2" stick
Ghee for roasting - 1/2 tsp
