Method
- Wash and put dal in pressure cooker.
- Add ground paste, with 2 cups water.
- Pressure cook for 5-6 whistles or till dal is very soft.
- Mash lightly to break grain after removing.
- Heat a pan, add seeds, allow to splutter.
- Add curry leaves, asafetida, onion, saut� for a minute.
- Add tomatoes, all dry masala powders, saut� for a minute more.
- Add dal, bring to a boil, simmer for 5-6 minutes.
- Add salt and lemon juice.
- Serve hot with tandoori roti or jeera rice, or steamed basmati rice.
Making time: 20 mintues (excluding pressure cooking time)

Ingredients: 1 cup - black dal washed, soaked overnight
1 - tomato, chopped
1 - onion, chopped
1 stalk - curry leaves
1 tsp - red chilli powder
1 tsp - coriander seed (dhania) powder
� tsp - turmeric powder
� tsp - garam masala powder
lemon juice to taste
salt to taste
Grind Together:
15 to 20 - basil leaves
15 to 20 - mint leaves
4 to 5 - carom plant leaves
1 - green chilli
1� piece - ginger
4 to 5 flakes - garlic
� tsp - sugar
