Baalekayi Paladya( Raw Banana in Yogurt Gravy)

Method
  1. Peel and chop raw bananas into 1" cubes.
  2. Boil in salt water until the raw banana is completely cooked.
  3. Grind coconut, jeera, coriander seeds, green chillies and 1 tsp mustard seeds into a smooth paste.
  4. Add the paste to the cooked raw banana pieces and boil well.
  5. Remove from stove; add salt, yogurt and mix well.
  6. For seasoning, heat oil in a wok, add mustard seeds.
  7. Add curry leaves and hing after the seeds splutter.
  8. Serve hot with steamed rice and enjoy.

Variation:
You could also use okra (lady�s finger) or Tindora (tendli/thondekai) instead of raw banana in this dish.

Ingredients:
1 - raw banana
1 cup - grated coconut
1 cup - yogurt/curds
2 to 3 - green chillies
1 tbsp - coriander seeds
1 tbsp jeera seeds
2 tsp - mustard seeds
a pinch - haldi/turmeric
3 to 4 - curry leaves
a pinch - hing/asafeotida
salt as per taste
1 tsp - oil
