Kheer with fresh kiwi

Method
  1. Wash the rice very well until the water runs clear.
  2. Boil 3 cups of water.
  3. Add the rice and cook uncovered for 5 mins. Drain.
  4. Combine milk, sugar and cinnamon in a large pan and boil.
  5. Add the rice and stir well.
  6. Simmer uncovered for about 30 mins or until most of the milk is reduced.
  7. Remove from heat, add the kiwi, cardamom seeds and half the almonds.
  8. Before serving, add cream and decorate with almond flakes.

6 cups milk
12 cardamom pods, shelled
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
2/3 cup castor sugar
1/4 cup toasted, flaked almonds
2/3 cup cream
