Wheat Germ Kheer

Method
  1. Heat water in a large vessel, bring to a boil.

  2. Add wheat germ, stirring occasionally.

  3. Simmer for 5 minutes, add hot milk.

  4. Bring back to a boil, simmer for 15 minutes, stirring frequently.

  5. Boil till wheatgerm is cooked.

  6. Add sugar, stir to dissolve, and allow kheer to thicken a bit.

  7. Add all other ingredients, simmer for 2-3 minutes more.

  8. Serve piping hot, on a monsoon morning, for a nutritious breakfast.

Making time: 30 minutes.
Makes: 3 servings

Ingredients:
1 litre milk
3/4 cup coarse wheat germ
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. each slivered almonds and pistachios
1/4 tsp. cardamom powder
1 drop kewra essence (optional)
