Stuffed vegetable idli

  1. Heat a kadai with a tbsp of oil and add the onion pieces.
  2. Saute till it turns transparent. Now add the ground masala paste.
  3. Saute till the raw smell disappears.
  4. Then add the cooked vegetables and the powders. Mix well for a few mins.
  5. Add the required water and boil well till the stuffing thickens.
  6. Finally add the lime juice and garnish with coriander leaves.
  7. In an idly pot, pour a tbsp of batter and keep a tsp of filling in the center.
  8. Then pour another tbsp of batter to cover the filling.
  9. Steam for 15 mins.
  10. Insert a fork, if it comes out clean, the idly is done.
  11. Serve hot with sambhar, coconut chutney or tomato chutney.
1 bowl - idli batter
Water, a little to dilute

For stuffing:
2 - carrots
6 - beans
1 - potato
1/4 cup - green peas
1 - big onion
1 tbsp - cooking oil
Turmeric powder, a pinch
Salt as needed
1/2 tsp - red chilly powder
1/4 tsp - garam masala

To grind:
1 inch piece - cinnamon
1 - cloves
Fennel seeds, a little
1 tbsp - grated coconut
1 tsp - dalia/fried gram dal
Ginger, a small piece
6 cloves - garlic or 1/ 4 tsp GG paste

To garnish:
Coriander leaves, a few
Lime juice, as needed
