Vengaaya Sambar

Method
  1. Blend the tur dal in a mixer for 2 seconds.
  2. Heat ghee in a kadai.
  3. Add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.
  4. Add the asafoetida, turmeric powder, green chilli, ginger and curry leaves.
  5. Add the onions and saute the onion for 2 minutes.
  6. Chop the tomatoes and add it and saute for another 1 minute.
  7. Now add the tur dal and add 2 cups of water.
  8. Add the tamarind paste, sambar powder, jaggery and required amount of salt and cook for 5 minutes.
  9. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Ingredients:
1 cup - boiled tur dal
2 - onions
1 - tomato
2 - green chillies
6 - curry leaves
1 tbsp - chopped coriander leaves
1 tsp - mustard seeds
1 tsp - tamarind paste
1 tsp - sambar powder
1 tsp - grated ginger
1/2 tsp - powdered jaggery
A pinch of turmeric powder
A pinch of asafoetida
Ghee to fry
Salt to taste
