Method- Take a cup of rice flour in a bowl adding a pinch of salt to it.
- Make a thick paste of pouring consistency by adding a little water and keep aside.
- Heat a medium-size vessel on a stove; pour remaining water to it, mix jaggery and bring to boil by stirring well.
- Now take a strainer or boondi maker (jaradi in kannada) hold it on top of the vessel.
- Spread the flour mixture on the strainer so that you get very small balls (like boondi).
- Keep the stove on medium heat and let this cook for 5 minutes.
- Finally add coconut milk and cardamom powder; cook for 2 minutes while stirring continuously.
- Remove from heat and serve the delicious payasa.
Note: You can add 1 tsp of ghee with raisins and cashews to the payasa to make it flavourful.
